Abstract:
The experimental study suggests that the TiO2 reduction can be inhibited by the vanadium oxide present in the Ti containing slag. However, the reduction can't be effectively inhibited unless the content of V2O5 exceeds 2%. As the reduction temperature increase,the migration reaction between V,Ti and Si can be remarkably promoted.

Abstract:
The metallurgical characteristics and its effect of the 120-ton top and bottom-blown converter with multihole permeable elements laid on the spherical-bottom refractory at Panzhihua Iron & Steel Co. are described.The factors affecting metallurgical characteristics such as the number and the arrangement of the permeable element as well as the bottom-blown pattern are discussed.

Abstract:
The difficulty of the smelting of vanadium-bearing titaniferous magnetite in BF is that the high-titanium slag is easy to be viscous. It will result in hot metal easy to stick to the ladle,poor desulphurization and much iron loss.The reason is that titanium dioxide is overreduced to TiC TiN,which couldn't melt unless under high temperature. An experimental study on the PC injection with high oxygen enrichment has been carried out to search for a new way of ironmaking using total vanadium-bearing titaniferous magnetite in BF.

Abstract:
The 22MnTiBRE gear steel produced by large converters and its associated production process and material properties are briefly introduced in this paper. The steel liquld is purified through an addition of 200kg/heat calcium deoxidizer to the ladle before tapping and feeding of aluminium wire and complex packed wire containing Ca,Ba,RE,Si,C and F after tapping.Besides,the method of hanging the RE rod and bright agent is adopted consequently,problems involved in the production of this steel by large converter have been solved,resulting in lower oxygen content in the steel liquid more consistent composition of steel liquid and large ingot,less finishing work and improved upsetting property of the steel. And gear steel with small variation in hardenability,fine grain and good cleaniness has been produced.

Abstract:
During the original stage of the study,twenty four kinds of organic adhesives are used as adding agents of sintering mix for granulation. The PG2 has been chosen out of them according to the results from sinter pot test.It can improve notably the permeability of sintering mix and raise productivity. But it doesn't pollute sinter.

A cold-state experimental device of the billet caster spraycooling mold is designed to study the behaviour of its mist jet.Based on the investigation of the nozzles' water characteristic parameters,such as water flow distribution, spray angle and water drop velocity,the nozzles arrangement in the mold and rational water flow distribution profiles are obtained.

Abstract:
Experiments have been conducted to study the behavior of titanium reduction between the CaO-SiO2-Al2O3-MgO-TiO2 slag and carbon saturated iron melts in the smelting reduction process. The influences of TiO2-content in the slag,slag basicity(CaO/SiO2),reduction temperature and quantity of iron bath on the titanium reduction have also been investigated.

To solve the problems of the rail fracture during straightening,bloom fracture and over-firing that occured at the beginning of commercial production of high carbon microvanadium PD3 steel rail recently developed by Pangang,macroscopic observation and metallographic study are used to analyze the main mechanisms for the material failure. An investigation is made into the production technology,and measures have been accordingly presented to improve the existing production technology.

Abstract:
The existing botton pouring technology,which involves application of mould powder,insulating plate and flux to prevent shrinkage has the disadvantage of high cost,complex operation and environmental pollution. In order to solve these problems,we have developed a synthetic powder for ingot casting.Industrial application suggests that the synthetic mould powder has the advantage of simple operation,safety and reliability,reducing environmental pollution and cost.

Abstract:
The high temperature practice of the external combustion hot stoves on the new BF at PZH I & S Co. can be realized on the basis of rational combustion schedule,option of optimum combustion parameters, improvement of combustion operation and automatized combustion control.It is coucluded by our research that it's rational to adopt rapid combustion schedule with a ratio of air to fuel 0. 70~0.77,fixed gas flow and adjusted combustion airflow. The combustion process can be successfully controled and a safe,stable and rapid combustion can be realized by means of automatized adjustion of the pressure of BF clean gas mains and automatized closed combustion control depending on five operating varibles:dome temperature,flue gas temperature,ration of air to fuel,residual oxygen of flue gas and BF gas flow. Blast temperature as high as 1100℃ can be obtained and the service life of hot stoves is expected to be extended.

Abstract:
The igniter with multiple slit burner is characterized by its higher combustion efficiency,better adjustment of flame length,more rational temperature distribution in the furnace hearth.The results of plant test have indicated that the igniter is able to satisfy the sintering ignition requirements at Panzhihua Iron & Steel Co.,and result in significant energy saving efficiency.

Abstract:
Reasons of the skimmer damage when smelting V-bearing titanomagnetite at Panzhihua Iron and Steel Group are studied.The new type of refractory for the skimmer and dam lining is made and tested.In order to meet the requirements of maintaining temperature of the skimmer the technique of repairing and building the skimmer is improved.At last,the new operation technique of maintaining temperature of the skirmmer succeeded.
