Abstract:
The multi-circle burden distribution practice has been realized on the No. 4 BF belless top at Panzhihua Iron and Steel by the improvement of the top control system. Industrial tests on multi-circle burden distribution at No. 4 BF are introduced. The operational characteristics of multi-circle burden distribution on the home-made belless BF top are examined. And the operational parameters on multi-circle burden distribution and temperature control range suitable for No. 4 BF are specified.

Abstract:
The Characteristics of austenite grains growth in Ti-N and Ti-Nb-N microalloyed steels welding HAZ have been studied by using of welding thermal simulation under different TP and corresponding holding time condition. Test results indicate that the ability of microalloyed steels to resist growth of austenite grains is related not only to the Ti content but also to the Nb and N content.

Abstract:
Comparative experiments were conducted to investigate the metallurgical, effects of top,bottom side and bottom argon blowing techniques. The experiments suggest that both bottom and bottom side argon blowing techniques provide better metallurgical effects than top blowing process, obtaining steel quality satisfactory to continuous casting requirements.

Abstract:
On the basis of the experimental results, the relation between the efficiency of recovering element chromium and proportion of metal aluminium in material and the energy sent out by every kilogram material was found out, At the same time, the relation between the contents of element Fe, Si, Al in the product and the proportion of metal aluminium in material was obtained. Then the mathematic model was established. According to this model and using the material containing 82.85%Cr2O3 (average value, it is far below 94% which is required before), the metal chromium was smelted. The average efficiency of recovering element Cr is 85.44%.

Abstract:
The paint used for preventing slab from oxidizing at high temperature is introduced. The main material is quartz sand. The paint making process is simple, low cost. The paint can prevent heated slab from oxidizing effectively. The simulated test indicates that the paint can reduce the oxidizing loss of the heated slab by 60%~80% compared with the slab without the paint. The mechanism of the coating preventing slab from oxidizing at high temperature is discussed.

Abstract:
The ladle lining at Panzhihua Iron and Steel had been originally built with aluminium-magnesia castable refractory. After the start-up of the continuous caster, the lining life declined drastically, and steel leakage occured frequently at the slag line. To ensure normal continuous casting operation, the combined lining with aluminium-magnesia carbon and magnesia carbon bricks was adopted. Exellent results were obtained from the typical and scale-up tests of ingot casting and continuous casting, and an average service life of 78.3 heats was achieved.

The development of the non-quenched and tempered steel is fully summerized. A detailed investigation is made into its change in characteristics with development, ie., the chemical composition, manufacturing process, micro-structure, strenthening mechanism, properties, applications, grades and specifications. The complex micro-alloyed, cold strenthened, and bainitictype modified steels enjoy the widest and most applications, Based on the 49MnVS3 Steel, these steels are produced by lowering carbon, increasing manganese and silicon. To further improve toughness of the non-quenched and tempered steels, the warm forging, oxide metallurgy and forging residual heat quenching technologies are adopted.

The SAP5 programme shell unit is used to conduct three dimension finite element strength analysis on the holding device, the main force applied component of the rod coil packing machine which is developed and manufactured by Panzhihua Iron and Steel Co., The weak point has been found and measures taken to improve the structure have been proposed. Its modification is proved to be successful and rational through verification of the reconstructed structure.

Abstract:
Desulphurization cost of different metallurgical processes such as in B.E., hot-metal pretreatment and in converter both at home and abroad is examined and compared. It is found by comparative analysis that hot metal pretreatment results in lowest cost and from technological viewpoint, is helpful to release the burden of blast furnaces and converters.
