COMBINED LADLE LINING USING ALUMINIUM-MAGNESIA CARBON BRICK AT PANGANG

  • The ladle lining at Panzhihua Iron and Steel had been originally built with aluminium-magnesia castable refractory. After the start-up of the continuous caster, the lining life declined drastically, and steel leakage occured frequently at the slag line. To ensure normal continuous casting operation, the combined lining with aluminium-magnesia carbon and magnesia carbon bricks was adopted. Exellent results were obtained from the typical and scale-up tests of ingot casting and continuous casting, and an average service life of 78.3 heats was achieved.
