During hot rolling of heavy plate, deformation inhomogeneity along the thickness direction will lead to the inhomogeneity of microstructure and mechanical properties. Therefore it is very important to choose a suitable rolling schedule. To investigate the effect of rolling schedule on the microstructure and mechanical properties of plate, finite element method (FEM) was used to simulate the rolling process of 50 mm thick plate. And the deformation at different position of the plate was obtained.Combining the simulation results with Gleeble physical simulation, the effect of rolling schedule on the section effect of VN microalloyed heavy plate was studied. The results indicate that the best section homogeneity can be obtained when the plate was given heat preservation after final rolled at 870℃.
