EFFECTS OF Ti ON STEEL──AN INVkSTION ON NON-VACUUM SMELTING OF IF STEEL

  • A small amount of alloying elements and adequate titanium were added to the Armcoiron to investigate the smelting methods of IF steel under non-vacuum conditions and effects of titanium on the properties of IF steel. The trial steel smelted in the induction furnace, hot and cold rolled, and subject to aging analysis, test in $\bar{r}, n$ and texture, was proved to comform with the properties of IF steel. Test results suggest that the trial steel smelted by the induction furnace and containing 0.03%C and 0.189% Ti exhibits no aging behavior, enjoys higher $\bar{r}$ and $n$ value, better deep-drawing property than 08Al steel, and shows favorable texture. It is also indicated that real titanium should be slightly over 0.02%.
