Abstract:
In accordance with the coexistence theory of slag structure and phase diagrams, the structural units of MnO-TiO2 slag system have been determined as simple ions Mn2+,O2- and molecules TiO2, 2MnO·TiO2, MnO· TiO2 and the thermodynamic calculating model of mass action concentrations has been deduced.The results show the calculated values NMnOare in agreement with measured αMnO. Therefore the above model is reasonable. Furthermore the changes of △HMGM with ∑nMnO are also calculated.

Abstract:
It is studied in this paper that the physico-chemical phenomena of TiO2 reduction in molten slag under the influence of D. C., and TiO2 reduction in smelting Si-Ti ferroalloy using slag containing titania by D. C. silicothermic process is referred to due to silicothermic reduction, electrolysis, carbothermic reduction, gravity settling, electrophoresis of metal drops and convection in melting bath. Under the experimental conditions it is conducted to smelt Si-Ti ferroalloy using titanium-bearing slags from blast furnace by electrolysis, silicothermic process and D. C. silicothermic process, and TiO2 reduction laws in slags under three conditions is achieved. It is shown that the reduction rate, reduction reaction rate constant, metal recovery and titanium recovery by D. C. silicothermic process is higher than that by silicothermic process.

Abstract:
An investigation has been made to intensify the sintering production,decrease the solid fuel consumption,enhance productiyity and improve low temperature reduction degradation index(RDI)of the sinter of vanadium-bearing titaniferous magnetite. New operation regulations suiting the sintering production of V-bearing titaniferous magnetite in Panzhihua I & S Co. and the best method to optimize the RDI of the sinter are propased.

Abstract:
Low grade silcon carbide is an effective raw material to raise molten steel temperature during the steelmaking in the converter. The results of industrial experiments show that molten steel temperature raising is from 40. 3℃ to 70. 3℃(average 48. 4℃)when low grade silcon carbide is added 8. 0kg per tone steel.Moreover,the addition of low grade silcon carbide can cut dowtt the content of total iron in slag by 1.3%;is beneficial to the slag formation and slag desulphurization,and to decrease the slag erosion of the refractory. This paper also gives the region of the molten semi-steel temperature and its carbon content whether to add or not to add low grade silcon carbide into the converter when the continiued cast steel is smelted in Panzhihua lron & Steel Co

Abstract:
This paper reviewed the state-of-arts of steelmaking technology in the converters in Panzhihua lron and Steel Co.,analysed the main problems of the present technology which is not suitable to smelt continuous cast steel, and put forward the measures to solve the problems. The industrial experiments show the measures proposed ore to meet the needs of smelting the molten steel used for continuous casting.

Abstract:
The waste obtained in processing V-slag is used as the raw material. Metal iron and V-slag are recoveried in electric arc furnace. The metal iron is dlrectly smelted to pure iron by desulphurization and dephosporizing,the V-slag is used as the raw material to produce V2O5.The successful trial provides a new method for comprehensive utilization of the waste.

Abstract:
Theoritical investigation has been conduted on the Al2O3-SiC-C refractory material used for iron runner and its ingredients have been developed in the lab. Site tests indicates that when trial material is used,the throughput of hot metal iron and service life were three time as much as those of the refractory home made in the company and a unit consumption one third of the latter,which have come up to the advanced level of the domestic steelmakers. Significant social and economic benirits can be obtained.

Since the traditional ore dressing facilities, ie, FIX-1 type Ø600mm spiral concentrator and Ø1200mm spiral chute were used by the titanium concentration plant, Panzhihua Iron and Steel Group to recover the primary granular ilmenite from the tailings following magnetic seperation of the iron ore dressing plant, the plant have accumulated a wealth of production experience. However, the GL-2 type Ø600mm spiral concentrator, which is characterized by greater capacity, high separation rate, no washing water and less land occupancy, may substitute the existing spiral concentrator.

Abstract:
The development of thin slab continous casting and rolling technologies throughout the world has been reviewed.The "CSP" technology employed by Nucor Steel of the U.S.and ISP adopted by Arvedi of Italy have been examined with an introduction to the equipments,plant layout and advantages of the production line of thin slab continous casting and rolling process. The technology of thin strip direct casting under development has been introduced in respect to the current trend of worldwide experimental study and the technical performance of the two roll thin slab caster widely adopted in most countries.Current state of the technologies in China has been briefly reviewed.
