Wear Behaviors of Vanadium and Titanium Modified NM450 Steel

  • Vanadium and titanium elements were added to modify the common NM450 steel.The results show that compared with those of NM450 steel,the weight loss,the depth and area of wear marks of NM450-0.2 V specimens with vanadium added are reduced by 5.36%,11.11% and 27.27% respectively,and the weight loss,the depth and area of wear marks of NM450-0.2 Ti specimens with titanium added are respectively reduced by 8.93%,13.89% and 36.36%,meanwhile,the weight loss,the depth and area of wear marks of NM450-0.2 V-0.2 Ti with vanadium and titanium simultaneously added are decreased by 16.07%,23.61% and 54.55%,respectively.Modification with vanadium and titanium is beneficial to improve the wear properties of NM450 steel,and the NM450-0.2 V-0.2 Ti specimens simultaneously with vanadium and titanium have the best wear properties.
