Experimental Study on the Recovering Ilmenite from Iron Tailings in Panzhihua-Xichang Area by High Gradient Magnetic Separator with a Horizontal Magnetic System

  • High gradient magnetic separation-high gradient magnetic separation-flotation process is adopted for ilmenite beneficiation in a plant in Panzhihua-Xichang area, and the high gradient magnetic separation stage is the key factor influencing the total recovery rate of ilmenite.Using the coarse material of iron tailings after concentrating and grading as raw materials, ilmenite was recovered by high gradient magnetic separator with a horizontal magnetic system and vertical magnetic system, respectively.The results show that under the optimal conditions, the high gradient magnetic separator with a horizontal magnetic system achieves the same recovery rate of titanium concentrate as the high gradient magnetic separator with a vertical magnetic system, but titanium concentrate with a higher TiO2 grade can be obtained by the high gradient magnetic separator with a horizontal magnetic system.At the background magnetic field intensity of 430 mT, the titanium concentrate containing 16.21% of TiO2 and 90.49% of titanium recovery can be obtained by one time of rough beneficiation of iron tailings.
