Using Panzhihua vanadium-titanium magnetite tailings as raw materials and polyvinyl alcohol as binding agent,the influences of the particle size composition,the moisture content,the pressure,the content of polyvinyl alcohol and the carbon content on the strength of resulted pellets were studied in this paper.The results showed that the pellet strength increased firstly and then decreased with the grain size refinement and increase of the moisture content,and gradually increased with the increase of polyvinyl alcohol content.Besides,with the increase of the pressure,the compressive strength changed with "N" shape,and the drop strength increased firstly and then decreased.With the increase of carbon content,the compressive strength first increased and then decreased,and the drop strength gradually decreased.The optimized technology parameters obtained were that the tailings contain minus 75 μm was 40%,the moisture content 8%,the pressure 8 MPa,the content of polyvinyl alcohol 0.6% and the carbon content 15%.Under these conditions,the compression strength of the pellets was 185.4 N and the drop strength was 42.5 times,which was fully meet the requirements for pellet strength in industrial production.
