Optimization of Extrusion Process for New Energy Automotive Profiles Made from Titanium-magnesium Alloy

  • The extrusion tests of Mg-Al-Zn-Ti new titanium-containing magnesium alloy for new energy automobile profiles were carried out with different extrusion temperature,extrusion speed and extrusion ratio,and the mechanical properties were tested and analyzed.The results show that the tensile strength and yield strength of the samples increase firstly and then decrease when the extrusion temperature is increased from 300 ℃ to 400 ℃,the extrusion speed is increased from 1 m/min to 5 m/min,and the extrusion ratio is increased from 10 to 26.Compared with the results from extrusion at 300 ℃,the tensile strength and yield strength of the specimen are increased by 17% and 31%,respectively,at an extrusion temperature of 360 ℃;compared with the results of extrusion speed of 1 m/min,the tensile strength and yield strength of the samples are increased by 14% and 23%,respectively when the extrusion speed is 4 m/min.Compared with the results of extrusion ratio of 10,the tensile strength and yield strength of the samples are increased by 9% and 14%,respectively,when the extrusion ratio was increased to 22.Therefore,the extrusion process optimization parameters of the new Mg-Al-Zn-Ti titanium-containing magnesium alloy for new energy automobile profiles are the extrusion temperature of 360 ℃,extrusion speed of 4 m/min,extrusion ratio of 22.
