The contrast experiment of rolling heavy steel plate microalloyed with V-N and V at Shougang was carried out. The results show that adding appropriate N into steel can intensify the precipitation strengthening and fine grain strengthening of V, and the appropriate N content in V-contained steel has no disadvantage to the performances of the steel. The 60 mm and 70 mm specification heavy plates were produced with V-N microalloying combined with controlled rolling replacing the heat treatment process. The performances of the plates meet the demand of Q390E steel.
