Technological features of CIT-M infrared-radiation temperature measuring system are described. The strand surface temperatures of typical steel grade cast at various casting speeds are measured by use of it. The effect of the withdrawing speed and the cooling intensity on the strand surface temperature is discussed. The results obtainted form an important basis for the optimization of water distribution in secondary cooling zones at Pangang slab continuous caster.
