Abstract: In order to develop welding wire steel containing titanium named ER70S-G,the quantity, size and species of inclusions in the melting process were studied. The results show that in the process of refining, the quantity of inclusions in the steel with equivalent diameter reduces gradually, and the number of inclusions per mm2 with equivalent diameter of 5 μm decreases from 19.78 to 1.66 in the tundish. The average diameter of inclusions gradually decreases to 2.05 μm in the refining process. At the beginning of refining, the main inclusions in the steel are Mn O-SiO2,and they transform into CaO and MgO before adding ferrotitanium. After adding ferrotitanium,Al2O3-Ti2O3-MgO is the main inclusions of the steel in tundish.
