THE CHARACTERISTICS OF TITANIUM-BEARING HIGH SPEED STEELS
Peng Kan, Huang Wenxuan
1994, 15(1): 1-5.
Abstract(19) PDF(0)
Abstract:
It is illustrated in this paper that additives with three different Ti concentrations to the M2 high speed steel have no influence on its steelmaking forging, and cutting properties. Titanium can refine the grain, and has a little contribution to the secondary hardenning and a trend to decrease the red hardness. However, it can improve the bending strength, deflection, impact toughness and abrasion resistance.

Li Zhushu, Xu Chushao, Li Zaimiao, Zhou Youquan
1994, 15(1): 6-9,26.
Abstract(19) PDF(0)
Abstract:
In this paper, the impoverishment law of titanium dioxide in the molten slag is established for smelting Si-Ti ferroalloy using the titanium-bearing slag with electrothermic process. By calculation the relation is determined between TiO2 concentration in the molten slag and the smelting time, the amount of reductant when smelting Si-Ti ferroalloy using Si-Al ferroalloy as reductant. The experimental results agree with the calculation.
DESULPHURIZATION AND REDUCTION PROCESS BETWEEN TiO2-CONTAINING SLAG AND MOLTEN PIG IRON
Diao Risheng, Wang Jing, Li Hongfang
1994, 15(1): 10-15.
Abstract(19) PDF(0)
Abstract:
The desulphurization and reduction process of synthetic titaniferous slag with molten pig iron have been studied simulating the temperature variation from the dropping zone to hearth of the blast furnace. The variation of [V],[Ti],[Si] and [S] contents during reaction and the relation between the slag composition and the desulphurization capacity, TiO2 reduction have been examined. A slag composition is recommended in order to decrease TiO2 reduction and preserve the desulphurizing capacity when smelting titanomagnetite with TiO2 content about 25% in the slag.
STUDY AND APPLICATION OF REDUCING THE TORQUE MOMENT OF TRANSMISSION SHAFT OF ROLL STRAIGHTENER
Zhu Meihua
1994, 15(1): 16-21.
Abstract(29) PDF(1)
Abstract:
The measured torsion of the multi-roll section straightener is analysised. The cause and effect of negative torsion is investigated. It is concluded that the overload of the transmission shaft is principally caused by the negative torsion resulting from the torsion interference. The straightening technology involving vational distribution of different roller diameters and using No3 driven roller is presented. The torsion of the transmission shaft and the straightening noise could be redued sighificantly when this technology put into effect in Panzhihua Iron & Steel Co.

1994, 15(1): 22-26.
Abstract(25) PDF(0)
Abstract:
This paper introduces the feature of the 64.5kg/m tie plate steel, option of the pass system, calculation of the pass design and constitution, option of the billets and design of the guides and guards. Results of the trial rolling and further improvements are analysised and compared. Problems which may arise from rolling this product are also pointed out.

Ge Wensun, Gu Wu'an, Zhou Jing, Ji Genrui, Xu Weihus
1994, 15(1): 27-31,37.
Abstract(27) PDF(0)
Abstract:
Two schemes on building combined converter lining with middle grade MgO-C bricks are presented under present conditions of Panzhihua iron and steel Co. The results of the industrial experiment show that obvious effects on balancing the lining, increasing the service life, and cutting down the refractory consumption have been achieved from the technology above. Finally, this paper sugguests two more ideal plans on combined converter lining.
APPLICATION OF LOOP CONTROL TO THE PRODUCTION LINE OF PISC'S WIRE ROD MILL
Qin Jimin, Liu Shaotang, Cui Botao, Xu Wenxun, Li Songchang
1994, 15(1): 32-37.
Abstract(12) PDF(0)
Abstract:
The loop control ahead of the finishing train is an effective measure taken to ensure the end tolerance of wire rods. This paper introduces a method to install the loop device at exit of the intermediate train before in to the finishing train, details are presented on the structure and working principle of the loop control. The principle of closed loop control is also disscussed. Finally the performance of this device on site is given.
DEVELOPMENT OF LINING PLATES OF HIGH CIHROMIUM CAST IRON CONTAINING V
Yu Zisu, Wang Gong, Luo Chuanyue, Chen Wan'an
1994, 15(1): 38-43,48.
Abstract(29) PDF(0)
Abstract:
This paper investigates the characteristics of KmTBCr15WVTi cast iron which is produced using as-cast fast cooling and the effects of V content on its microstructure, mechanical properties and wear resistance. The results obtained show that the service life of sinter machine lining plates made of this material is 4 to 6 times longer than that of 2G50Mn2CrMoV in room temperature. Better economical benifit has been gained.
STUDY ON MAKING VANADIUM CARBIDE
Zhou Zongquan, Ni Haiping, Zhu Shengyou
1994, 15(1): 44-48.
Abstract(20) PDF(0)
Abstract:
This paper deals with a new method to make vanadium carbide using the compacted mixture of APV and carbon powder which is sintered at the given temperature and under argon atmosphere. The influence of the quality of APV and carbon powder, size and proportioning ratio of the carbon powder, sintering temperature, flow rate of Ar. and time of constant tempermture on the quality of vanadium carbide was studied. Qualified vanadium carbide was made in the lab.

Chen Shifang
1994, 15(1): 49-52.
Abstract(24) PDF(0)
Abstract:
The process in which the vanadium residue produced from the extraction of V2O5 from panzhihua V-bearing titanomagnetite is used as the raw material to manufacture metallic gallium and electrolytic pure iron is presented. The reduction smelting, iron electrolysis, acid leaching, extraction and gallium electrolysis were incorporated in the process. The successful trial provides a new way to extract metallic gallium from iron-bearing minerals.

Abstract(27) PDF(0)
Abstract:
Condition in hydraulic system of WHC 1000-S3 unite machine tool imported from west germany in Rail-beam Plant of P.G has been monitorted by ferrography. Abnormal wear of the equipment has been early forecasted successfully by monitoring four years. Hydraulic oil of poor quality is the main reason of the worst condition has been pointed out. The relation between the wear condition of equipment and wear particle type oil deteriorating has been preliminary studied.
